The road to health starts with proper diagnostics, that is why Oakton Park Medical Center utilizes state of the art tools to help find out what is causing your problems so we can move forward to the most efficient treatment. Come in for a diagnostic appointment and we’ll do all we can to get you on the road to recovery. Our Skokie clinic offers ECG, Spirometry and Bone Density testing.
- ECG, or Electrocardiography: is a diagnostic tool for discovering heart problems. If you are suffering heart-related symptoms, an ECG is a good way of determining whether they are caused by a heart problem or if they are just mimicking one. When you come in for an ECG, we will place six small adhesive electrode pads on your chest, and a few more in other parts of your body. We will measure waves created by your heartbeats, which will reveal any issues your heart is experiencing.
- Spirometry: This quick and easy test is typically used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other conditions affecting the lungs. We will measure how much air you can inhale and how much you can exhale with our Spirometer, showing how well your lungs are working.
- Bone Density Testing plays a huge role in the early detection of osteoporosis—and the earlier it is detected, the more effective its treatment. Our DTX machine will measure how many grams of calcium and other minerals are in the bones of your forearm. A higher mineral content means stronger bones.
- Ultrasound Diagnostics allows to safely see inside the body via high frequency sound waves that create a visual image of your internal organs. Our Skokie ultrasound team are experts in diagnosing and can view the inner workings of your muscular systems, vascular system, as well as the functions of the organs by way of abdominal ultrasound including liver, spleen, bile ducts and gallbladder, echocardiogram, venous and arterial doppler, abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, endovaginal ultrasound along with the kidneys and urinary bladder and much more!
